Zara watched as the eerily waving limbs of trees brushed back and forth, waving at her, welcoming her.
Broken by grief after her husband's death, Zara returns with her son Tommy. Her aunt Mary-Ro, though grateful for Zara's return, feels a growing sense of apprehension—will those curses also return? The woods are waiting. They always are.
Zara always told him that if he was scared, to close his eyes tight and picture something beautiful—a sunflower over a tall picket fence, a small bird singing on a tree branch.

For as unnerving as that old Bennett manor and those woods were, there was at least one other legend that the small town was infamous for. The best known was her. Many people didn't speak her name. Still don't. Not because of some silly nursery rhyme you'd say in front of a mirror at night. Mostly, it was because of her history—what she had done. But, that's why they're called stories; and most stories called her witch.
